Wow...it looks as if the Telegraph could be starting to get it.

That was simply lovely, Carlotta. Thanks for mentioning this article.

(I haven't been commenting much, but I'm always reading along with Bloglines!)

Getting there but a bit unfair.

I had to Google Andrew Flintoff because I honestly had NO idea who he was (and find that I don't care) and the Fabio guy I'm assuming is something sports related because of the name. As if such pop culture trivia is even remotely useful. Do you know who was leader of the opposition when you were 10 because I sure as heck don't! Was Einstein a pop culture nerd? I doubt it!

So positive-ish, but it made HE sound difficult and expensive and something you only do if you are middle class and your children are meant to be geniuses.

Hi Becky,

re: bloglines...yes, that's me too!

And Ruth,

I do agree re the perhaps rather sly digs. Why should everyone have exactly the same set of theories and anyhow who says that the chosen set of theories is so obviously superior to others?

re: the footie problem: I personally can't help but think of it as the activity of people who have nothing better to do with their time! I would choose almost ANY other sport over it...netball, hockey, lacrosse, badminton, squash, table tennis, dodge ball, rounders, darts, tiddlywinks....ANYTHING, yet at a club we went to recently, all the school boys chose footie over a large number of these other available choices. The word sheeple sprang to mind.

When DS opted to play badminton with the girls, the boys later accused him of being gay. So much for school socialisation eh!

The only reason why mine know who DC is, is because I had just a large amount of ochre pigment all down my front at a Science Festival, and turned round to find myself face to face with the chap who was smiling sweetly and politely seeming to ignore my rather unusual state of repair. I failed to get in any great sound bites about HE for which I could have kicked myself later, but I was rather taken aback by it all.

Humble pie being eaten here. Ever since I said what I did about footie, DD hasn't stopped playing it. She's obsessed. Oh goodness.

Clearly, a middle class indulgence.

"Middle class indulgence"

...sounds good to me, whatever it is!
