I ...Just had a thought about the bit SEN section. I guess that the fact that it is in pink means that it is still outstanding as the next thing to do.

Would it be good to include the bits we do already know about, ie; that it is not the case that a statement doesn't have to stay in place. HEing parents can ask for it to be removed and LAs should not unreasonably refuse to do this.

Also, there should be a clear explanation that parents should not be required to make the provision specified in the statement, since these provisions were specified for a school environment and may well be inappropriate for the home setting.

Also that an SEN may not be necessary at all in the home environment and indeed may simply not exist. SENs frequently being the product of an environment where learners are organised into age groups and content of the learning is structured in certain unpersonalised ways.

Also and in relation to the above paragragh, section 3.15 should be make it clear that a statement of SEN does not override paragraph 3.11.

Also the provisionCarlottahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12686469871331093679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11652148.post-26740459239342052007-07-11T11:07:00.000+01:002007-07-11T11:07:00.000+01:00Oh, and please leave feedback at my journal if I'v...Oh, and please leave feedback at my journal if I've missed anything, or anyone wants an invite to collaborate on it: http://pete-darby.livejournal.comPete Darbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01349118584166359618noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11652148.post-36996519768334473622007-07-10T21:43:00.000+01:002007-07-10T21:43:00.000+01:00Tee hee, nag away. I was pleased to see that I was not the only one to spot the racist and inappropriate reference to Roma people in this document, which Pete picks up and deals with quite nicely.

If everyone responds like this, it will be clear to them what is required.

We should compile our responses in a single place to create a master document against which the final guidelines are measured. If the final guidelines are not what we think they should be, then we should reject them and then adopt our own document as 'how we mean to proceed', and DfES and every LA should be made aware of this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
