Gaming is Good for You
Apparently, (thanks DD) there is a well established link between bilingualism and increased longevity. This from Globeandmail, (via Key Words), may help explain it.
Great, you have found the research behind this. Will definitely have to get my second language upto scratch again then!
Interesting that the Prof B in the article is still unhappy if her children play video games for any length of time and that a lot of reading would not have bothered her, although I suppose I can understand it coming from the same set of memes...
I cannot read the article without registering, but the co-relation just seems silly. If you use the brain more your body "decides" not to kill you? Seems like wishful thinking to me.
Thanks for the Link! That article is my wife's personal favorite for right now - she just started learning classical greek :)
Now, if I can JUST get her to make the obvious conclusion, I'll have a new xbox 360 soon - in the interest of our long term mental health, of course...
