Intellectual Property

With all this talk of open source material, see here, here, here and even here, it's hard to avoid experiencing a twinge of conscience about the issue of intellectual property rights. The premises and arguments for and against the protection of such rights are summed up pretty neatly here, though I still find myself sitting on this particular fence. What do you think?
