Whoa...if it really is as bad as it looks, then it's bad. My only equivocation consists of the obvious HSLDA spin on the story, but I still think UK educrats should stop and ask themselves if this really is the way they want to go.
A press release from the Netzwerk Bildungsfreiheit provides further details.
Scary stuff...
ReplyDeleteWND can be frustrating...they have their spin. I don't think HSLDA had much to do with it however (referring to the original story, not WND's article)...the article from the Netzwerk is much better. I *think* WND is just trying to make it a little scarier for US homeschoolers since that is the bulk of their readers.
ReplyDeleteGeesh, I should read my comment before posting. I meant that the bulk of WND's readers are from the US, not US homeschoolers.
ReplyDeleteI'm a US Christian homeschooler and don't read them much, outside the fact that their articles seem to circulate through the internet fast enough that I do end up reading the homeschool related ones eventually, it seems.
Thanks for the info, Dana. I know Daryl C has an issue with HSLDA scaring people into giving their money and also that Germans should be left to get on with it. I do tend to trust DC's judgement, so this s makes me hesitant to raise any alarm with this story.
ReplyDeleteOTOH, rulings in Germany have already scrambled our chances here in the UK of using Section 8 of European Human Rights Law to protect parental rights to educate as parents see fit, so it is getting very close to home.
My alarm is entirely self-interested, but is not going to raise any cash for anyone!
It seems to be very real(in an unreal kind of way).
ReplyDeleteWhat I can not figure out is how can you tell if a 16yo is 1 year behind in development.
