Lord Lucas's Questions

... here, on the so-called harassment of Graham Badman.

Here, on whether a local authority will have the right to refuse permission to home educate if a parent refuses to allow the local authority unaccompanied access to his or her child.

  1. I would like to point out that the Government, not home-educators have all the power here. We don't have a campaign against anyone... We are trying to defend our rights! This situation is becoming increasingly Kafkaesque as even our attempts to criticise proposals are being used against us.

Alice, the kind of behaviour we're witnessing here is typical of a playground bully; as soon as someone challenges them they run for help with the flimsiest excuse.

But they're worse than the playground bully because, as you point out, they have most of the power.

However, so far they have only been subjected to a defensive campaign from a group of people that are naturally quite pacific; let's go on the offensive and point out to them and the public that they are highly-paid politicians and public servants that are part of a corrupt, dishonest and incompetent regime seeking to abuse our children.

I think the next stage of campaigning should include personal letters to MPs linking a vote for the proposals directly to the greater danger of abuse for children. Let's see how they like to be branded as the ones responsible for abusing children - in school or out.
