The Horrible History Man

...is profoundly opposed to schools, labelling them an utter waste of a young life.

Wonder if he knows anything about the alternatives?

Get him on the Badman case!

Recent reply to an HE email was that he disagrees with HE too.

How could he disagree to HE when it seems that he is advocating mentoring in a HE context?

I don't know how he disagrees with HE, but I know that he does, the email Merry refers to was to me. I did mail to ask if he was aware of the range of alternatives within HE, but got no further follow up from him.

I suppose he did say 'mentoring', although that isn't so different to HE. Anything that challenges school I suppose!

How about inviting him to give a lecture to a home education history club? Just don't tell him it's a home education one. "Dear TD, our history club was founded by young people who were drawn to history through reading your books..." My kids love his books.

Maybe the poor man thinks all HE is 'school at home' with more "learning things that will never be any use to you". I can't see that he could logically be against AE.
